With no dissent, the Jefferson County Quorum Court approved an appropriation ordinance to pay the cost of insurance for the juvenile detention center.
Meeting Monday night, the county’s legislative body said yes to the $19,294 appropriation to pay the one-year premium for the center. The insurance is carried by First Arkansas Insurance/Pine Bluff, and will be in effect until Jan. 1, 2013.
In other business, the Quorum Court approved a $31,591.30 appropriation for Juvenile Court for the FINS (Families In Need of Services) and Truancy program, with the money coming from the Pine Bluff, Dollarway, Watson Chapel and White Hall school districts.
The funds will be used to pay the salaries and benefits of part-time FINS and Truancy officers.
In a related matter, the justices of the peace approved an ordinance to transfer $28,000 remaining in the 2011 Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Fund to the FINS and Truancy Fund. That money came from the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Also Monday, the panel approved an appropriation ordinance setting an $11,324.36 budget for the State Homeland Security Grant Fund. That amount is what was not spent from a 2009 grant from the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
A $43,231 appropriation that sets the 2012 budget for the Fire Prevention and Safety program was also approved, with funds also coming from a state grant.
