“Grandmother’s Attic” will be the theme for the luncheon scheduled by the Pine Bluff Christian Women from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Pine Bluff Country Club.
The special feature is an Antique Road Show. Attendees are encouraged to bring to the luncheon an antique or treasured item from their home to be appraised. If you have an item that doesn’t have a name, this is the time to find out what that treasure is.
Carrie Walthall, co-owner of “Carrie Scott’s Antique Mall”, 2408 Camden Road, has been collecting antiques since she was 18. She always stopped by junk stores on her way to and from college. When all her friends were out running the streets, Walthall would be spending Saturday nights at Robinsons Auction on Rhinehart Road.
Walthall has been an instructor at Southeast Arkansas College for 15 years. She teaches business law, real estate, legal research, and family law.
Norma Caldwell, a resident of Pine Bluff, and a native of Wynne, is the special speaker of the Christian Women event.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
Caldwell has lived in eight different states. Each place has been unique and different and she has learned that home isn’t necessarily a physical place. She has attended six different colleges and universities and each move afforded her another 30 to 60 hours. She has worked for two CPA firms — Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith; United Municipal Investment Corporation in Memphis, Tenn; — and a paper manufacturing company in Chattanooga, Tenn., as manager of all accounting functions.
Caldwell will talk to the group about “Crossing Life’s Barriers.”
The cost of the luncheon is $13.50, which includes tax and gratuity. Reservations can be made by calling Nancy Sumner at 870-879-2049.
This event is sponsored by the Christian Women Connection, which is a part of Stonecroft Ministries in Kansas City, Mo. Christian Women is a non-denominational group with no formal membership, attendance requirements, or dues. There are some 1500 groups meeting throughout the United States and Canada.
