Man on probation arrested in alleged break-in

A Pine Bluff man who is currently on probation was arrested in the early morning hours Wednesday after he allegedly broke into a storage facility on Commerce Road.

Lemmie Daniels, 23, allegedly told police he and three others entered Express Security Facility at 2700 Commerce Road but refused to named the other three, Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Steve Rucker said in a probable cause affidavit presented in district court Thursday.

According to the affidavit, police were sent to the business at 2:56 a.m. to check a burglar alarm and when they arrived, heard locks being cut off storage units.

Rucker reported that Daniels was located walking on East 10th Avenue, was sweating, and his pants were wet. Security video showed a person who matched the clothing Daniels was wearing.

When Daniels was questioned, he allegedly said one of the people he was with cut the lock on the gate and all four people entered. He said he did not take anything and ran when police arrived.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $10,000 cash only bond for Daniels after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with breaking or entering.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Daniels.
