L.L. Owen Elementary School in the Watson Chapel School District is gearing up for the upcoming ACT Aspire and STAR state testing with Test Prep Week activities, according to a news release.
ROAR (respect, organized, attentive and responsible) events include the following:
March 12 — Respectful: “Pastries for Parents” 7:55 a.m. Parents are asked to escort their children to class then join other parents for pastries in the 3rd Grade Staff Development Room.
March 13 — Organized: “Goodies for Grands” 8:30 a.m. Grandparents are invited to come for a short assembly in the gym. The guest speaker will be Glinda Foots.
March 14 – Attentive: “Cookies for the Community” 1 p.m. The community is invited to an assembly and balloon release in the gym. The guest speaker will be Major Lafayette Woods Jr. of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
March 15 — Responsible: “Roast the Test,” an after-school literacy evening will be held in the cafeteria from 3:30-5 p.m. featuring literacy games and activities for students and parents. James Varnell will roast hot dogs.
March 16 — ROAR: Motivational Pep Rally will be held at 9 a.m. in the gym. The community, parents and patrons are invited to attend. The guest speaker will be Tyler Green. Watson Chapel High School Drumline and Cheerleaders will perform.
