Economics Arkansas invites teachers to “Dinner and Dollars,” a free personal finance dinner-workshop at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
The event will be held from 4.30–6.30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at UAM in the library conference room A of the Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center.
The workshop will be presented by Economics Arkansas, an educational non-profit organization that teaches preK-12 educators how to integrate economics, personal finance and the free-enterprise system into the classroom curriculum, according to a news release.
The event is designed to raise participants’ knowledge and comfort level of personal finance matters.
Participants will receive dinner, two hours of professional development, resources for students and adults and a $25 stipend.

The workshop is free for certified teachers currently under contract and for pre-service educators. “Economics Arkansas (through the Arkansas Council on Economic Education) is a private, non-profit, non-partisan, educational organization founded in 1962 by Dr. Arch Ford and led by Dr. Bessie B. Moore to promote economic literacy in Arkansas,” according to the release.
“Its mission is to equip preK-12 schools with standards-based resources and professional development to teach economics, personal finance and the free-enterprise system using practical, innovative and inspiring methods so that Arkansas students may master an understanding of economics and personal finance and apply that knowledge for success in the free-enterprise system,” according to the release.
