Former White Hall High School football coach Ryan Mallett will be posthumously inducted into the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor, UA announced on Monday.
Mallett will be one of eight former Razorback student-athletes inducted during a ceremony on Sept. 26 at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville. The ceremony will be held the day before Arkansas’ home football game against Notre Dame.
The other inductees will be Makeba Alcide (women’s track and field), Brian Baker (men’s track and field and cross country), Zack Cox (baseball), C’eira Ricketts (women’s basketball), James Rouse (football), Dwight Stewart (men’s basketball) and Clint Stoerner (football). Inductees are selected by a vote of former Razorback letterwinners.
Mallett began his college football career at Michigan before transferring to Arkansas. He redshirted in 2008 before playing quarterback for the Hogs in 2009 and 2010. He completed 491 of 814 passes for 7,493 yards and 62 touchdowns during those two seasons. He still ranks third in the school’s history for career touchdowns and passing yards.

He was a two-time All-SEC second team selection and was the offensive MVP of the 2010 Liberty Bowl, in which Arkansas defeated East Carolina 20-17 in overtime. In Mallett’s final season in Fayetteville, the Razorbacks went 10-3 and finished the season ranked No. 12 in both the AP and Coaches Polls.
Mallett was drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He also played for the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens.
After two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Mountain Home High School, Mallett served as the White Hall Bulldogs’ head coach from 2022 until his death at age 35 in June 2023.
