The roads that were repaired and work done by the Jefferson County Road Department:
Sept. 1
Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Ferda Road. Culvert Crew: Installed a 15” X 16’ extension onto an existing metal pipe in driveway on S. Pack Road and covered it with three yards of SB2. Repaired a driveway on Coachlight Drive and filled in with six yards of concrete.
Truck Driver: Hauled 47.67 tons of SB2 from Granite Mountain Quarries to Gilliand Road 20 tons and Jeter Road 20 tons. Hauled six tons of asphalt from Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel to Morgan Road. Hauled 24.76 tons of Class 7 PR from Arkansas Aggregates to Jefferson County Road Department.
Grader Operator: Graded Morrow Road, Gibb Anderson Road and Willie Road. Graded Gilliand Road and spread 20 tons of SB2 on the road. Graded Jeter Road and spread 20 tons of SB2 on the road.

Boom Mower Operator: Cut grass in ditches on Meadow Pond Road, Wilbur West Road and county roads in the Wright Area.
Sept. 3
Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Ashley Road and Princeton Pike Road.
Sept. 4
Pickups: Picked up cardboard at McDonald locations on Blake Street, Olive Street, East Harding; at Chicken City in White Hall and Dart’s Packaging Company in Pine Bluff.
Sept. 5
Sign Shop Operator: Removed a tree off Whiteville Road, cut it up and hauled it away.
Sept. 6
Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Sorrells Road and Jefferson Parkway. Culvert Crew: Installed a 12” X 20’ driveway culvert on Evans Road and covered it with seven yards of SB2. Set Up Crew: Setting up Morgan Road to county specifications for a resurface job.
Truck Driver: Hauled 119.25 tons of SB2 Class 7 Base Course from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department. Grader Operator: Graded Hooker Road, Moscow First, Watkins Road, Riverside Road, Shady Grove Church Road, Reynolds Road, Brockman Road, Morrison Road, White Hall Saddle Road, Jefferson Cemetery Road, Hartley Dump Road, Hannaberry Lake Road and Wishbone Farm Road.
Sept. 7
Patching Crew: Continued pothole patching on Ferda Road. Culvert Crew: Installed a 13” X 20’ metal culvert in a driveway on Princeton Pike and covered it with eight yards of SB2. Added four yards of SB2 to driveway culvert that was installed on Evans Road. Truck Driver: Hauled 71.16 tons of SB2 Class 7 Base Course from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department.
Grader Operator: Graded Bayou Meto Recreation Road. Sign Shop Operator: Put a road sign up on Providence Road, two speed limit signs and one Children at Play sign on Stratton Drive.
Sept. 8
Patching Crew: Continued pothole patching on Ferda Road. Culvert Crew: Repaired a driveway on Hildersheim Road and used one ton of cold mix. Set up Crew: Worked on the resurface job on Morgan Road getting it ready to chip and seal.
Truck Driver: Hauled 95.79 tons of SB2 from Bruce Oakley, Inc., 18.14 tons of Granite SB2 from Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel and 298.225 gallons of CRS-2 from Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions to Jefferson County Road Department.
Grader Operator: Graded Abernathy Road, Wyatt Road, Gibb Anderson Road, Hooker Road and the levee at Reydell. Boom Mower Operator: Cut grass in the ditches on Griderfield Road and in the Wright Area.
Sign Shop Operator: Filled potholes on Crooked Creed Road, made a one-call report for the installation of a metal pipe, closed the road to install the pipe and worked in the sign shop the rest of the day. Environmental Officer: Checked county roads for illegal dumping and trashy yards.
Cardboard is a big source of revenue for the recycling center. Businesses call to set up a pickup for cardboard at their location and it is picked up and taken to the recycling center on Gravel Pit Road where it is bailed for the source that has been contracted to recycle the cardboard.
The Jefferson County Road Department has a mechanic shop that does various mechanic jobs on the county’s heavy equipment as well as cars and trucks that belong to Jefferson County.
All logging companies and construction companies that haul heavy loads over the Jefferson County roads are required to be bonded in order to use the county roads in Jefferson County. They are required to have a copy of the bond on file with Jefferson County Road Department. If you have questions please call 870-534-7020.

Brought in 4 tire boxes, 4 cardboard boxes, 3 newspaper boxes, 1 plastic box, 4 trash boxes; brought 3 trash trailers in, sent 3 trash trailers out;
Jefferson County brought in 24.92 tons of tires, Get Rid of It/Waste Management brought in 20.89 tons of tires; shipped one load of E-Waste, one load of plastic, 31.94 tons of TDF to Evergreen Packaging.
Therecycling facility is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
