Guachoya to host annual St. Patrick’s Party fundraiser

Guachoya Cultural Art Center at Lake Village will host its annual St. Patrick’s Party and Fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. March 10 at the center.

The center will be covered in green and guests are encouraged to design and wear festive clothing for the evening. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes. On the list of fun things to do are the live and silent auctions for dinners, parties, weekend getaways, art pieces and many other great prizes.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person including a meal prepared by some of the “greatest cooks” in Lake Village and volunteers. Groups of six to 10 should reserve a table by March 8. To make reservations, call Guachoya’s executive director, Tracy Gor, at 870-265-6077.

The Delta Artists Association Exhibit will be an added attraction for the evening. The collection consists of works on canvas, works on paper and 3-D pieces. This collection features both amateur and established artists from Mississippi and Arkansas.

This annual fundraiser benefits the art center in its mission to promote the arts in Lake Village and the surrounding areas. With so many cuts in both state and federal funding for the arts, this fundraiser will allow Guachoya to continue offering the excellent programs, classes and events that it has offered in the past, the spokesman said.

All contributions and donations are tax-deductible. Artists, restaurants, businesses or individuals wishing to donate to the auction or event are appreciated and encouraged to contact Gore as well.

Guachoya Cultural Art Center is located at 1652 Highway 65/82 South in Lake Village. The hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
