The Carnell Russ Branch NAACP’s annual Reclaim the Community Program will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the St Ollie Missionary Baptist Church at Star City.
Presentations and speakers include: The Plight of Schools – Principal Ronnieus Thompson; The Plight of Churches – the Rev. Melvin Harrison; and The Plight of Communities – Judge Earnest Brown.
Carnell Russ Branch NAACP was originally the Lincoln County Chapter of the NAACP and was renamed in 1973 in honor of the late Carnell Russ Sr.
“Our primary goal is to be a beacon of light in the community as an advocate for the greater good of all the people in the communities,” Leatice “Lea” Russ-Glenns, branch president, said in a press release.
