Arethias Bacon, Sr.


Arethias “Buddy Hall” Bacon, Sr., 85 was born June 23, 1929 in the Ladd Community to the late Mary Caroline Mackrel Hall and Willie Louis Bacon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melzener P. Bacon; two children – Mary Louise Bacon and Clarence Bacon, four sisters and three brothers. He was educated in the Ladd and Hooker Communities.

Mr. Bacon was a retired machinist at Weyerhaeuser/Gaylord Paper Mill Company. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the body of believers at First Baptist Church in Ladd. On January 25, 1954 he was united in marriage to Melzener “Sue” Bacon, and to this union twelve children were born.

Mr. Bacon finished his race on November 15, 2014 when God called him home to rest from his labor. He leaves to cherish his memory his children – Aretias “Sonny” Bacon, Jr. (Ruby) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Col. Ronald “Tony” Bacon (Doris) of Houston, Texas; Lucy Wisemon (Clewester) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Bernitta Bacon; a devoted caregiver and daughter-in-law of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Artis C. Bacon of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Min. Floyd Bacon (Yvette) of Atlanta, Georgia; Charlie Bacon of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Vera Cook (Eric) of Arlington, Texas; Littice “Lisa” Blood (Harold) of Destrehan, Louisiana; Debbie Curtis (Grant) of Gulfport, Mississippi, Bobby Bacon of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be 10:00a, Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home in Pine Bluff by Reverend Floyd Bacon. Interment will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. His body will lie in-state Saturday, 9:15a until service time.

Visitation will be Friday, 4:00-6:30p at Brown Funeral Home.
