The Altheimer High School Class of 1971 is celebrating its 45th reunion starting with a meet, greet and picnic at 4 p.m. today at the home of Lenorris Davenport Jackson at Little Rock.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, a fellowship and brunch will be held at the American Legion, 3200 S. Main St., at Pine Bluff.
A banquet/dance commemorating the reunion will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, at the American Legion. The featured banquet speaker will be Emily Dendy, a 1961 graduate of Martin/Altheimer High School, who was also a high school science and mathematics instructor in the Altheimer School District from 1965-1994.
Dendy taught chemistry for an additional 17 years at Pine Bluff High School, before retiring in 2011. She currently shares her time with Jefferson Regional Medical Center as a volunteer guest relations hostess in the surgery center.
Loistine Adway Johnson, another graduate of Martin High School and former teacher, will offer a tribute. Johnson taught this class 10th grade English.
