White Hall couple to show artwork
Gail Greenstreet

Husband and wife Paul Owens and Gail Greenstreet of White Hall are exhibiting artwork at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave., in Pine Bluff. The two members of the Pine Bluff Art League will be guests at a reception from 5-6:30 p.m. June 4 at the Center. The art league invites the community to attend.

The art league installed its new “Flower Exhibition” during the May 5 meeting at the Reynolds center. This exhibition will remain through July 13. The community is invited to see the diverse selection of works by area artists centered on “Flowers” in pastel, acrylic, alcohol ink and more mediums, according to a news release.

OWENS

Owens is a White Hall High School graduate and Arkansas native. He studied at Arkansas AM&N College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) and Arkansas State University before graduating from Southeastern College in Winfield, Kan., with a degree in theatre.

Owens’ vision is to show the entire scene while capturing the nuances sometimes overlooked in everyone’s hectic lives, according to the release.

Owens received his photographic training as a photographer/sportswriter for both The Pine Bluff Commercial and Jonesboro Sun and as a freelance reporter in Kansas.

Owens was the event coordinator for the Pine Bluff Convention Center for the first three years of operation and co-director of the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas for two years. Later, he spent four decades in computer technology sales. In the position, Owens traveled the states and abroad, capturing the sights.

GREENSTREET

Greenstreet is a California native who moved to Tucson, Ariz., with her family. She studied briefly at the University of Arizona before backpacking across Europe.

During her studies, Greenstreet became enveloped in European culture and arts. Greenstreet’s inspiration stems from lighting, trying new things and finding the joy of working with color.

Greenstreet returned to the states to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She spent 12 years as a multi-state manufacturer sales representative and more than three decades developing her painting process alongside several art organizations in Richmond, Va., and San Antonio, Texas. Greenstreet regularly surrounded herself with art by running an art gallery during this period. Afterwards, she lived in Denver, Colo., where she could devote more time to her artistic talent.

Owens and Greenstreet are retired and moved back to White Hall. They are active members of the art league and the Port City Blues Society.
