Wellness Center announces changes

Jefferson Regional Medical Center Wellness Center recently announced that there are no joining fees, no contract and one membership works for the White Hall and Pine Bluff facilities.

The public monthly membership fee is $48 a month, which covers everything, including all classes, according to a press release.

“I’m excited about the fact that our members can utilize both facilities, so we can have more participants in each of the classes,” Brandy Baugh, JRMC Wellness Center coordinator, said in the release. “I’m really excited to see White Hall members doing some of the Pine Bluff classes and vice versa. The energy is better; it’s just a great mixture. You’re bringing two worlds together as one, and it makes the class so much fun.”

Baugh said the Wellness Center classes are unique because they can be easily modified for seasoned exercisers as well as those who are new to fitness.

Susan Townsend, who’s been a Wellness Center member for nine years, said she feels better and is more confident than ever before, according to the release.

“I joined kind of on a whim and fell in love with it,” she said.

Townsend said in the first couple of years at the Wellness Center, she lost more than 80 pounds, and she has kept it off from continuing her Wellness Center exercises and participating in the classes.

“The instructors are more invested in you,” Townsend said. “You’re like a family. When you’re not there, people know you’re not there. We just look out for each other.”
