LITTLE ROCK – Funeral services for Wattie Norwood 99, of Little Rock, passed November 9, in Veteran Hospital in Little Rock, will be held Saturday 11 a.m. Pleasant Grove MBC Rev. Harold Shirlee pastor.
He was born October 1, 1915 in Sherrill, Ark. , son of the late Ike Norwood and Mattie P. Norwood. He was raised by his aunt laura Baskins and uncle Will Baskins of Forrest City, Ark., he was baptized in Best Saleman Baptist Church in Forrest City, Ark. He served on South Pacific as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1942 and received Honorable discharge in 1946. He moved to rural Jefferson County in 1962, married the late Eleazar Jones Norwood. He was a member of Pleasant Grove MBC.
Survivors four step children, Joyce Jones, Caroly Lasley both of Pine Bluff, ten grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation may be made Friday 6-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday 10 a.m. until Funeral time 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Veteran Section 2122 W. Pullen Street. Services by Perry Funeral Home.
