The Pine Bluff Police Department and the Group Violence Intervention team sponsored the Gun Violence Victims Memorial Candlelight Vigil on Sunday afternoon.
Messages of peace, love and remembrance filled the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff during this second remembrance event, according to the police department’s Facebook page.
Pine Bluff Police Chief Shawn Davis told families who gathered that their lost loved ones are more than just headlines in a newspaper.
He also offered words of comfort and praise for their bravery in the face of sorrow. Photos of lost loved ones filled the sanctuary, along with flowers and an abundance of memories.
At the end of the event, each family stood, lit a candle and named their loved one who was lost to gun violence.
