UTeach Arkansas will award $5,000 scholarship packages to three high school seniors who create a winning 15-second-or-less online video that demonstrates a STEM concept (science, technology, engineering or math).
The agency has also enlisted the help of celebrity scientist Kevin Delaney of the Little Rock Museum of Discovery to encourage high school students to consider teaching math or science. Delaney, who has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, recently filmed a series of videos on behalf of UTeach Arkansas.
Each scholarship package includes a $2,500 tuition credit at a participating Arkansas UTeach university – University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, or University of Central Arkansas. The package also includes a laptop, a graphing calculator and a $750 book voucher.
The UTeach scholarship package is available to any student entering college academic year 2015-2016, who is a resident of Arkansas. (Winners who attend a school other than the three universities listed will forfeit the $2,500 tuition credit.) The entry period is from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 2014. The three winning entries will be announced January 2015. Details: Visit UTeachArkansas.org.
