United States Daughters of 1812 member Kimberley Purifoy Stout was awarded for her work by the National Society U.S.D. 1812 with Most Markers in 2023.
At the marking and dedication of Real Daughter Patience Caroline Purifoy Lee (daughter of Ensign John Purifoy), State President U.S.D. 1812 Sheila Beatty presented Stout with the National Certificate of Award.
One of the main objectives of the U.S.D. 1812 is the marking of historical sites. A historical site includes the identifying and grave marking of War of 1812 patriots as well as their daughters and granddaughters.
The National Society U.S.D. 1812 promotes this by judging the individuals/chapters/states by awarding those who have excelled in the marking of historic sites.
Simon Bradford Chapter, located in Pine Bluff since 1911, has a strong history of locating and marking the graves of veterans of the War of 1812 and Stout has followed this tradition. She was awarded for her efforts.
The Simon Bradford Chapter meets four times a year at the Pine Bluff Country Club. It is one of three chapters in the state. Baseline Meridian meets in Little Rock and Hot Springs; the Thomas H. Flippin Chapter meets in Fayetteville. The State Society was founded in 1908 and has identified more than 700 veterans/patriots of the War of 1812 buried in Arkansas. Stout is the Vice President of the State Society.
