The Grand Prairie Quilt Society assembled June 12 at the First Christian Church in Stuttgart, for their meeting and annual Quilt Day Camp. Eight members were present.
The leader opened the meeting with the Thought for the Day: “I hate having a messy house … not enough to actually clean it, but enough to give it a really disgusted stare from my seat at the sewing machine.”
The May minutes and treasurer’s report were given. Members brought dry beans for the ICCM Food Bank. June “Happy Birthday” greetings were extended to three members, according to a news release.
Old Business: A member has assembled the red, blue and yellow Children’s Comfort quilt top. It will be finished later.
New Business: It was announced that French Seam will be having a $1.00 yard sale on June 20.

A member brought a box of quilt blocks for the treasure table for the members to pick from and make a special project.

A member had a Sunbonnet Sue quilt she pieced and Lorie Bernhardt finished and quilted.
A member had a finished Children’s Comfort quilt, dolls she decorated for the Christmas Shoe Boxes and quilt blocks in the Rainbow Rails pattern.
Another member showed a wall hanging she did in shades of green.
After the business session, participants had a lunch of pizza, and then adjourned to neutral corners to begin various projects including a prayer quilt, an NBA quilt top and a baby quilt.
“Everyone had a great three days, visiting and sewing and snacking… the next meeting will be a Sit ‘n Sew on July 10 — bring your lunch and project and join us,” a spokesman said.
