Unified Christian Alliance presents scholarships

Unified Christian Alliance Inc. presented scholarships at its 19th annual Baccalaureate Service May 1 at Breath of Life Church.

Scholarships were awarded to the following recipients, who plan to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff:

• Kaya Griffin, a senior at Pine Bluff High School, will receive $1,000. She is the daughter of Rodney and Chandra Griffin.

• Cameron Girley, a senior at Dollarway High School, will receive $500. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Girley Sr.

• Jasmine James, a senior at PBHS, will receive the Katherine Powell Memorial Scholarship of $500. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin James.

• Kimberly Marcus, a senior at Watson Chapel High School, will receive the Ida Jones Memorial Scholarship of $500. She is the daughter of Dr. Herschel and Kimberly Marcus.

• Taleigh Kirk, a senior at Dollarway, will receive a book scholarship of $250. She is the daughter of Mattie Griffin.

• Trevon Lee, a senior at PBHS, will receive a book scholarship of $250. She is the daughter of Terrie and Levon Lee.

• Antonie Rice Jr., a senior at PBHS, will receive a book scholarship of $250. He is the son of Dr. Antonie Rice Sr. and Rashonda Rice.

• Tia N. Rice, a senior at PBHS, will receive a book scholarship of $250. She is the daughter of Dr. Antonie Rice Sr. and Rashonda Rice.

• Alexis L. Whitten, a senior at Watson Chapel, will receive a book scholarship of $250. She is the daughter of Ora Reynolds.

The speaker at the event was the Rev. Joshua Crater, associate minister at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Unified Christian Alliance is a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to local seniors who plan to attend UAPB. The president is Jennifer L. Lee. Board members are Douglas Allen, Joyce Butler, Jean Holloman, Betty Lagrone, Sandra Pierce and Chrishauna Roberts.
