Update, 10:46 a.m. Friday: UAPB baseball coach Logan Stout told the Commercial on Friday the series with Prairie View A&M will be pushed back to at least Sunday, possibly Monday.
Due to this week’s severe weather, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff has postponed the baseball and softball series scheduled to be played this weekend at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.
UAPB announced Wednesday the softball series against Alcorn State was rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday of next week. The Lady Lions and Braves will play a doubleheader on Monday starting at 1 p.m. with the final game of the three-game set scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Head Coach Logan Stout told the Commercial on Thursday morning the opening game of the baseball series against Prairie View A&M would be played Saturday at a time to be determined, possibly 3 p.m., if conditions allow.
Midafternoon on Thursday, the Weather Channel listed the chance of rain Saturday as 100 percent. It will be the fourth straight day of rain and severe weather in Jefferson County. This leaves open the possibility for further delays to the baseball series. Sunday’s chance of rain was listed at 24 %.

Both teams have midweek road games scheduled for next Wednesday which could be affected as the weekend games get pushed back. The softball team is set to play a doubleheader at Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, Miss., while the baseball team is scheduled to face Lamar in Beaumont, Texas.
Elsewhere in southeast Arkansas, the University of Arkansas at Monticello has moved this weekend’s three-game baseball series against Ouachita Baptist to Sunday and Monday. UAM and OBU will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Sunday at Benton High School in Benton. Monday’s series finale will be played at Weevils Field at Union Bank Park in Monticello at 3 p.m.
The softball series between the schools will also be played Sunday and Monday. The Cotton Blossoms and Lady Tigers will play a doubleheader Sunday at 5 p.m. and finish the series at noon Monday. All three games will be played at “Petesy” Langston Softball Field in Arkadelphia.
