This weekend’s scheduled baseball series between the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Prairie View A&M has been postponed due to weather.

The series was originally scheduled to begin Friday but was pushed back first to Saturday, then Sunday in hope of being able to play.

Saturday evening, head coach Logan Stout told the Commercial the field was unplayable, removing any chance to play this weekend. Although the infield was covered by a tarp prior to the start of the past week’s heavy rainfall, Stout said standing water in the outfield made it unsafe.

No makeup date has been announced, and it is unclear when, or if, the series can be played with every weekend filled until the SWAC tournament in May. UAPB (5-20, 3-6 SWAC) sits in 10th place in the conference but one game behind Prairie View A&M, which would have made this a key series.

UAPB’s next five games are on the road. The Golden Lions will travel to Lamar on Wednesday before playing a three-game series at Texas Southern and an April 15 game against Arkansas in Fayetteville.

The Golden Lions’ next home games will be April 17-19 against Southern.
