UAPB sets vegetable production session at Marianna

A vegetable production workshop at will focus on the use of high tunnels in vegetable production.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Agriculture Demonstration Outreach Center at Marianna.

“Aimed at growers with high tunnels or those interested in adding high tunnel production to their agricultural enterprises, topics to be covered include types of fall crops to grow in high tunnels, how to plant, what to plant and good practices for high tunnel vegetable production,” according to a news release.

A Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) representative will discuss EQIP (Environmental Quality Incentive Program) cost share funding for high tunnel crop production.

The UAPB program at Marianna houses the Agriculture Training Center for Alternative Crops and Vegetable Processing.
