The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will host an Area Commercial Vegetable Production Clinic Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Lon Mann Cotton Research Station near Marianna. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The session is aimed at commercial vegetable growers and will include a variety of experts, according to a news release.
Obadiah Njue, UAPB School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences interim assistant dean for Extension, is the luncheon speaker who will discuss UAPB’s outreach and Cooperative Extension programs.
UAPB Small Farm Project Director Henry English will discuss legumes, cucurbits, and brassica and the benefits of hoop house vegetable production.
Shaun Francis, UAPB Cooperative Extension Program horticulture specialist, will discuss sweet potato production.

The clinic will feature Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Lee County Conservation District updates by Precilla Wade, farm loan officer, and Tiffany Davis, county conservation manager.
Insect management will be covered by Shawn Payne, U of A Cooperative Extension Service Phillips County staff chair; disease management by Stan Baker, U of A Cooperative Extension Service Lee County staff chair; and Nilda Burgos, U of A crop science and environmental sciences professor, will cover weed management.
