Dennis Obeng Agyei is a seasoned rice farmer, miller and industry leader in the Ghanaian agriculture sector. He serves as vice president of the Ghana Rice Interprofessional Body and is the CEO of Abibimo Company Limited, a rice value chain operator in Ghana.
As vice president of GRIB, Agyei is facilitating the development of a memorandum of understanding between his organization and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
He recently visited the campus to meet with UAPB School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences and university officials to deepen institutional ties, interact with local rice producers and engage in a consultative discussion to finalize the MOU draft document, according to a news release.
Agyei first became involved with UAPB in late 2022 when he participated in a two-week Cochran Fellows Program on the rice value chain in the U.S. hosted by SAFHS. He later reached out to the UAPB Office of International Programs and Studies to build on the previous relationship established. He is particularly interested in strengthening the engagement of Ghanaian youth in agriculture through enhanced mechanization of the sector.
