University of Arkansas at Monticello psychology students Janna Alvarez of Hamburg and Brandi Brewster of White Hall have been awarded travel grants to attend the Southwestern Psychological Association Conference.
Psi Chi Honor Society, the international honor society for psychology students, provided the grants to the conference at Houston, Texas, April 13-15.
Alvarez and Brewster will present the results of their original collaborative research as part of the Psi Chi/SWPA Awards Showcase.
Their research, entitled “Diversity Matters for Professional Growth,” explores how their college experience has shaped their professional development.
The research was conducted and written under the mentorship of Seungyeon Lee, an assistant professor of psychology, who will also serve as program chair for the awards showcase.
Psi Chi was founded in 1929. Its mission is to promote excellence in scholarship and advance the science of psychology.
