Formal charges were filed Tuesday against two men accused in the shooting death of another man in April.
Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter charged Deandre Brown, 19, and Samuel Mosby, 20, with capital murder in the April 7 shooting death of Devan Ward, 21, who was pronounced dead by a doctor at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the neck.
Ward’s body was found inside a car that was reportedly blocking traffic in the 100 block of West 26th Ave., in the early-morning hours of April 7.
Police determined that the car Ward was found in had been reported stolen in Little Rock in March. During their initial investigation, they identified Mosby as a possible suspect.
Detective Bill Wiegand reported that detectives went to Mosby’s residence, also in the 100 block of West 26th Avenue, and he initially denied any involvement.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing for Mosby that investigators later received information that sent them back to Mosby’s house where they found a 9-millimeter handgun believed to be the murder weapon after Mosby’s mother gave them permission to search.
During a second interview, Mosby reportedly told investigators he was sitting in a car with Ward and another person, whom he did not identify. Mosby said the other person, whom police later identified as Brown, shot Ward.
Mosby said he and the other person ran to Mosby’s house where the other person gave him the gun and told him to hide it.
Both Brown and Mosby are being held without bond at the adult detention center. The cases were assigned to 5th Division Circuit Judge Jodi Raines Dennis.
