Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 W. Third Ave., invites the community to its annual presentation of “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.
The Chancel Choir and readers from Trinity church will present the service of scripture and song. Faron Wilson, organist and choirmaster, will direct the music.
“This historic service tells the story of the fall of humanity and the promise of the Messiah as told in nine short Bible readings, interspersed with the singing of carols, hymns and anthems,” a spokesman said in a news release.
“Originating in a cathedral in Cornwall, England, in the 1870s and based on a medieval vigil service, the Lessons and Carols service was first made popular in the early 20th century at King’s College Chapel in Cambridge, England, which continues the tradition to this day,” he said.
The service is free and all are invited to attend. Details: 534-3832.
