Summit to host Christmas concert

Summit Sounds, the wind ensemble at Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road, will present a Christmas concert in the worship center at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.

Secular and sacred music will include “Christmas Time Is Here” from Charlie Brown’s Christmas Show, “The Chipmunk Song” featuring the muted trumpet section, and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”

The alto saxophone section comprised of Jerry Earnest, Peter Nguyen, Taylor Hubanks, and Cady Grice will present their rendition of “Mary Did You Know?”

Trumpet soloist, Garry Henson will share his arrangement of “White Christmas,” accompanied by Summit’s pianist, Annette Rushing.

Tuba soloist, Caleb Hickman will play Burl Ives’ “Have A Holly Jolly Christmas” from the animated classic, “Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer.”

“This group has worked extremely hard to present this genre of Christmas music spanning many years and varied styles, Lewis Hinkle, Summit’s music minister, said in a news release. “We want people to enjoy the celebration with us.”

Special guests will include the women’s ensemble, Summit Sisters, and a surprise visit from Santa.

The concert is free and open to the public.
