Trade Day launches celebration

Trade Days on Aug 4 will kick off the month-long Founders Day celebration in White Hall. The activities will end Aug. 25 with a parade and activities for the whole family.

The 2012 Founders Day theme is “I Love This Place.”

Detailed information on individual activities, including entry forms, applications and contacts, is available from the sponsoring White Hall Chamber of Commerce at www.whitehallfoundersday.com. Tabs at the top of the website include details on individual events.

Pageant dates are Aug. 10 and 11. Friday is the registration deadline. In addition to the Miss White Hall and Mrs. White Hall pageants, other divisions include Teen, Junior, Petite, Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Tot and Bitty Baby.

The Miss White Hall Pageant is open to White Hall residents from newborn to 25-years-old.

The Mrs. White Hall Pageant is open to all Arkansas residents who are 18 years old and above and also married.

A golf tournament will be held Aug. 18 at the Pine Bluff Arsenal course. The two man scramble is limited to 25 teams.

Activities on Aug. 25 begin with a pancake breakfast at City Hall at 7 a.m. and will continue during the day.

Parade participants are encouraged to bring canned food and non-perishable food items for the White Hall Food Pantry. Entries will include bands, community and church groups, dignitaries, political candidates, saddle clubs, school organizations and youth groups.

The parade down Dollarway Road will end at City Park, where activities will range from food and craft booths, entertainment, a car show and a cooking contest.

The latter includes categories for pork ribs, anything but ribs and dessert. Cash prizes will be awarded.
