Aldermen up for re-election

All six aldermen in White Hall and the six Redfield City Council members are up for election this year. Municipal candidates have from Friday until noon Aug. 17 to file for election in the November general election.

White Hall Mayor Noel Foster and Redfield Mayor Tony Lawhon are serving four-year terms and won’t be up for election until 2014. While Ellen Welch, White Hall’s city clerk and treasurer has two-years remaining on her term, Rita Jackson, Redfield’s city recorder and treasurer, will be up for a third four-year term this fall.

White Hall’s six aldermen whose two-year terms expire this year:

Andy Lunsford, Ward 1, Position 1; Ken Smith, Ward 1, Position 2; Scotty Ray, Ward 2, Position 1; Ed May, Ward 2, Position 2; David Beck, Ward 3, Position 1; and Joel Foster, Ward 3, Position 2.

Redfield’s incumbent aldermen whose terms expire Dec. 31:

Danny Dial, Ward 1, Position 1; Johnny Jones, Ward 1, Position 2; Brenda Carmical, Ward 2, Position 1; Sandra Garrett, Ward 2, Position 2; Barbara Werner, Ward 3, Position 1; and Darrell Hedden, Ward 3, Position 2.

Werner told The Progress that she will not seek re-election in November.
