Three Rivers Audubon Society will hold a brown bag lunch meeting at noon Thursday at the Delta Rivers Nature Center in Regional Park.
The speaker will be Dan Scheiman, bird conservation director for Audubon Arkansas, the state office of the National Audubon Society. Scheiman has seen 354 of the 413 bird species documented in Arkansas during the 10 years that he has lived here.
Scheiman will speak about recent Audubon research finding that climate change is the most immediate and significant threat to the future existence of birds in North America. He will discuss the individual and collective opportunities that exist in Arkansas to lower carbon emissions and to protect imperiled species.
Scheiman and his staff monitor birds and other wildlife, restore wildlife habitat and help the people of Arkansas improve their environment.
The public is urged to attend.
