Juvenile Judge Earnest E. Brown, Jr., center, in robe, his Teen Court staff, and 2018-2019 Teen Court volunteers are all smiles as they take a break for a group picture. Teen Court was established to hear cases of youthful first-time non-violent offenders in Jefferson and Lincoln counties as an alternative to Circuit Court. Teen volunteers, under the supervision of the Juvenile Court staff and practicing attorneys, fill all of the normal positions of the court except judge. This alternative is made available only to individuals accused of minor offenses. Individuals accused of major offenses are not offered this alternative. Those cases are tried in Circuit Court.
