Support Go Forward Pine Bluff’s vision

Editor, The Commercial:

I am writing in support of, and in thanksgiving for, the institutions, civic leaders, and interested citizens, that are working to bring the vision of Go Forward Pine Bluff into reality. This is such a positive force for good in our beleaguered community. I, for one, will be pleased to pay an added tax for something that will produce good fruit, unlike where some of our tax money goes, such as, the propping up of rotting infrastructure, and the red herring of zip code reform.

I pray that we may be united in mind, body, and spirit, to work for the resurrection of our city, and the uplifting of our citizenry. I pray also that any negativity, jealousy, selfishness, and baseless dissent, give way to a desire to work for the common good. Let our words be spoken to unify and not divide.

I long to hear more strong and positive voices like those of Mayor Shirley Washington, former Mayor Debe Hollingsworth, some on our City Council, business leaders, religious leaders, professionals, those with jobs, and the unemployed, who support Go Forward Pine Bluff, and thereby our city, in a chorus of hope and promise. Our faith is in God’s Providence, and with God as our guide, our city can be that “Shining City on the Bluff,” and we can all live into a new and brighter day.
