Summit Soundz to present summer concert

Summit Soundz will present a concert of patriotic, sacred, and gospel music at Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5.

This 26 piece wind band ensemble is comprised of high school students from the White Hall and Watson Chapel high school bands including their respective directors, Kameron Willis, Allen Wimberly and Garry Henson. The ensemble is accompanied on piano by Annette Rushing, former choral director at White Hall Junior High School, according to a news release.

The program will include a musical salute to all branches of the U.S. military during the patriotic portion of the program. Gospel favorites such as “How Great thou Art,” “Blessed Assurance,” “It Is Well With My Soul,” and “I’ll Fly Away” will be featured.

“This is a very unique group of musicians that rehearse each week using their talents not only in their respective schools but in the worship of God,” said Lewis Hinkle, the director for Summit Soundz. “It going to be an exciting program and we want people to enjoy great instrumental music.”

The public is invite to attend the concert.
