Southeast Arkansas students were among winners of the Spring 2017 Stock Market Game. Cash awards and trophies were awarded during a luncheon hosted by Economics Arkansas at Verizon Arena May 10, according to a news release.
Winners include:
Elementary — Region 6: First Place and Second Place — Moody Elementary School; advisor Tiffany Evans, White Hall School District;
Junior High — Region 2: Second Place — Poyen High School; advisor Janet Wallace, Poyen School District;
Junior High — Region 6 — First Place and Second Place — Watson Chapel Junior High School; advisor Russell Johnson; Watson Chapel School District;

The Stock Market Game is an investment simulation competition for students in grades 4-12 that challenges participants to grow a hypothetical stock portfolio of $100,000 for 10 weeks, according to the release.
Economics Arkansas, a nonprofit educational organization that trains educators how to integrate economics and personal finance concepts into the K-12 classroom curriculum, hosts the Stock Market Game program each fall and spring semester. It is a project-based investment simulation designed to teach saving and investing while also enhancing students’ math, business, communication, economics and analytical skills, according to the release.
The Stock Market Game is owned by the Securities Industry Financial Markets Association and franchised to Economics Arkansas since 1999.
