Brookshire Grocery Co. is sponsoring the 35th annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive.
Through Dec. 21, the stores will collect donations of non-perishable foods that will be distributed through local service organizations and food pantries to people in need.
“The goal is to provide a week’s worth of food to approximately 15,000 households throughout the company’s market area,” a spokesman said in a news release. “Recipients will receive a box of non-perishable food items such as canned meat and vegetables, peanut butter, dried beans, rice and pasta, sugar and flour, along with a coupon for a free roasting hen.”
