State Police graduating class includes SEA residents

Of the 29 Arkansas State Police trooper recruits who recently graduated, several have Southeast Arkansas connections, according to a press release. These include:

• Christopher Crim, 29, of Sherwood, is being assigned to Troop E, Lincoln County. Crim is assigned to Highway Patrol Division. Crim is a graduate from Sylvan Hills High School.

• Philip Felton, 31, of Bryant, is being assigned to Troop E, Jefferson County. Felton graduated from Bryant High School and is being assigned to Highway Patrol.

• Jerome Sanders Jr., 27, is also being assigned to Troop E, Jefferson County. Sanders is a resident of Pine Bluff and is being assigned to Highway Patrol.

• Zachary Varnell, 26, is being assigned to Troop E, Jefferson County. Varnell is a resident of Pine Bluff and graduated from Watson Chapel High School. He will be assigned to Highway Patrol.

• Marshall T. Williams, 36, of Doniphan, Mo., is being assigned to Troop E, Jefferson County. Williams graduated from Doniphan High School and Southeast Missouri State University. He will be assigned to Highway Patrol.

• Jerry Oglesby, 30, a Pine Bluff resident, is being assigned to Troop A, Pulaski County. Oglesby graduated from Pine Bluff High School as well as Southern Arkansas University Technical College. Oglesby is being assigned to Highway Patrol.

A graduation ceremony was held June 28 for the recruits. According to the press release, after the recruits report to their troop headquarters, they are to be placed with a certified departmental Field Training Officer for a 12-week period before they are released to their assignments.
