The Southwest Arkansas Small Farm Conference is scheduled to begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 20, at the University of Arkansas Community College campus at Hope.
The conference is sponsored by the Silas H. Hunt Community Development Corp. Inc. of Texarkana in cooperation with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Small Farm Program.
Gateway to Building Economic Opportunities in a Rapidly Changing World is the theme.
Aimed at small and limited resource farmers and landowners, the goal is to provide participants with solutions to issues they face related to agriculture, health care and community development. Part of the conference will have a town hall format so that participants can discuss issues.
Presenters will include Zachery Taylor, director of marketing, Arkansas Department of Agriculture; Michael Sullivan, state conservationist, U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service; Stacey McCullough, director of the Public Policy Center, University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service; and Steve Seiderman of the University of Arkansas Food Innovation Center.
The conference is free, but pre-registration is requested by March 18. Lunch will be provided. Exhibit space is available for participating businesses and governmental agencies.
