Smith picked for WH Sports Hall

Sam Smith will join Greg Wooten and James (Buddy) Pittillo for induction into the White Hall High School Sports Hall of Fame at 7 p.m. Tuesday during a ceremony at the school’s cafeteria.

Smith’s induction is in appreciation for his years of dedicated service to the White Hall athletic program.

He is a graduate of Henderson State University and he served the White Hall High Shcool District for three years as head track coach, five years as the baseball coach and three years as an assistant baseball coach.

His coaching career includes two conference titles in baseball and one state championship in 1980. Smith went on to serve the district as an assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent and athletic director. In 1996-97, Smith was named the state’s Assistant Principal of the Year.

In 2011, Smith retired after spending 43 years with the White Hall School District.
