Small craft advisory remains effective on Arkansas River

The Army Corps of Engineers reminds boaters that small craft advisory issued last month remains in effect on the Arkansas River, according to a news release.

The advisory was issued following heavy rains and subsequent rains caused flows to remain above safe levels for small craft.

Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Currents become swifter and stronger, and large debris is carried downstream. More rain could push flows higher or cause the advisory to remain in effect longer, according to the release.

Daily river information can be obtained at www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil or the Corps’ mobile App which can be found in mobile App stores by searching for USACE Little Rock.
