Sizemore due in court May 7

Marla Rodgers Sizemore of 109 W. Little Lane, the former White Hall School District substitute teacher accused of having sex with students, is scheduled to appear May 7 before Circuit Judge Berlin C. Jones for an arraignment on three felony charges and 16 misdemeanor counts.

Sizemore, who turns 45 Monday, was charged April 10 with two counts sexual assault in the first-degree, a Class A felony; one count of sexual assault in the second-degree, a Class B felony; eight counts knowingly furnishing or selling intoxicants to a minor; and eight counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a criminal information filed April 10 in Jefferson County Circuit Court.

The two counts of first-degree sexual assault alleged that Sizemore engaged in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual activity with someone under the age of 18 who was not her spouse and is an employee of the victim’s school or a “person in a position of trust or authority over the victim.”

Those incidents allegedly occurred March 9 and 10.

The second-degree sexual assault maintained Sizemore engaged in sexual contact with an individual under the age 18 while an employee in the minor’s school and a person placed in a position of trust and authority over the minor. The latter incident also allegedly occurred March 10.

Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter charged Sizemore with eight counts of knowingly furnishing or selling alcohol to a minor and eight counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor on March 9 and 10.

Sizemore surrendered at the Jefferson County W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center April 10, posted a $10,000 bond and was released after being booked, fingerprinted and photographed.

White Hall Police launched an investigation into the allegations after receiving complaints from parents in mid-March that Sizemore was providing intoxicants to students during parties at her residence.

Sizemore, who had been assigned as a substitute teacher at the junior high and senior high school, has been removed from the substitute call list.
