A fire Monday night at a vacant house on the north side of Pine Bluff is being investigated as an arson, according to fire officials.
Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Department spokesman Lt. Harold Clark said the fire was reported at 2711 S. Reeker St. at 10:50 p.m. When the first fire company arrived on the scene, they found the structure fully engulfed in flames.
“It was actually called in as a grass fire and when Engine Two got there, they requested additional companies,” Clark said.
He said the house was located in the middle of a field near Townsend Park, was vacant and had no utilities turned on.
“It was definitely an arson,” Clark said, “and is still under investigation.”
Fifteen fire fighters were on the scene for two and-a-half hours before the fire was fully extinguished. No one was injured.
