Sheridan fire still being investigated

SHERIDAN — It may be several more days before the victim of a Friday night residential fire near Sheridan is identified, Chief Deputy Pete Roberts of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said Monday afternoon.

“We’re still waiting on the medical examiner for a positive identification,” Roberts said. “Meanwhile, we’re continuing our investigation of the fire.

“There are no new findings to report right now. It could be the end of the week before the body is identified,” he said.

Authorities were notified of the fire at 11122 U.S. 167 South between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Friday, Roberts said. No one else was injured.
