Walter Ashley III, a Pine Bluff High School football standout, was honored by Alfred Carroll Ministries recently with the ACM God has Not Forgotten You award.
The plaque and a check were presented at the No Child Left Behind Evangelistic Outreach Service.
“The idea of the award is to say to our young people, even if life throws you a curve, God can, will and does allow you to get a hit,” said Carroll, founder of the ministry.
Ashley’s father, Walter Ashley Jr., was killed in a shooting Nov. 13.
The plaque shows a color reproduction of Ashley on the football field and contains the scripture Jeremiah 29:11.
Funding for the award was provided by Alderman George Steps, business owner Earl Henderson, Jeff Ramsey and Bubba Pettigrew.
