Robey’s Saturday Scholars plan celebration

Jack Robey Junior High School will observe the closing of the Saturday Scholars Initiative with a Ladies and Lords Lock-In Celebration from 4 p.m. Friday, April 8, until 8 a.m. Saturday, April 9.

The Saturday Scholars Initiative was offered to students who demonstrated academic potential in English language arts or mathematics and would benefit from enhanced study.

The initiative served 132 Jack Robey students.

“We are very proud that so many students came out,” Vice Principal Teresa Moka said in a news release. “Kids want something structured, and when you create a special place for them, they will respond positively.”

Students attending all sessions will participate in the lock-in. Activities will include Paint with a Twist, board games, basketball and movies and there will be refreshments. Each participant will also receive a T-shirt.

“Jack Robey Junior High School would like to thank the Keith Sanders Group, Share-A-Prayer and Word Fellowship Ministries and other private donors who supported the Saturday Scholars Initiative and the lock-in,” the news release said.
