The Arkansas ReEntry and Prevention Initiative will host its first Distinguished Service Award Banquet/Fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at The Pines mall.
This black-tie affair will feature keynote speaker Leon Jones Jr., director of the Arkansas Department of Labor. Jones, a lawyer, is also a Pine Bluff native.
The ReEntry and Prevention Initiative will honor ex-offenders who have been out of prison for at least 10 years and are living as productive citizens. Honorees will also include those who are mentoring inmates, ex-offenders and/or their children.
The goal of the initiative is to help reduce recidivism in Arkansas by successfully reintegrating offenders back into society, a spokesman said.
“We are grateful to the political, religious and business leaders who are already committed to supporting us in this noble endeavor,” said Jihad Muhammad, executive director of the initiative.
