Members and guests of Progressive Chapter, American Business Women’s Association met at the Pine Bluff National Bank, White Hall branch, for their monthly meeting and potluck luncheon.
In celebration of the chapter’s 33rd anniversary, Georgia LaGrave brought a beautifully decorated birthday cake. Fried chicken provided by the board members was the main dish, and all other members brought a dish to go with the fried chicken.
Margie Murphy installed the following officers for the coming year: president, Linda Eifling; vice president, Betsy Foster; secretary, Linda Hurd; and treasurer, LaGrave.
Eifling conducted the business session of the meeting. She announced the committee assignments for the coming year: Scrapbook — Ann Douthit; Travel — Jan Adam; Newsletter — Adam; Programs — Eifling; Ways and Means — Hurd; Community Service — Floretta Scott; Sunshine — Nancy Rosen; Publicity — Rosen; Telephone — Murphy; Dollar Pot — Foster; Secret Sisters — Adam; Membership — Alice Erwin and Murphy; and Fall Auction — LaGrave. There was a discussion about everyone trying to get additional scholarship donors and ad donors.
Adam, Travel chairman, said that everyone who attended the recent daytrip to Hot Springs enjoyed the day. Those attending were Adam, Rosen, Eifling, Foster and Murphy. The day was spent shopping, eating lunch at Cracker Barrel, and visiting member Margie and her husband, Calvin Murphy in their new condominium. Another day trip was planned to visit museums in Little Rock.
The Dollar Pot was won by Jean Upshaw, and she donated it back to the chapter. Eifling, Murphy, Upshaw, and Needra Hansen won door prizes. Megan Tyler, grandaughter of member Hurd, was a special guest at the meeting.
