Pine Bluff Police are looking into a Tuesday morning shooting that left a man with a shrapnel injury to the cheek after bullets penetrated his vehicle.
A suspect in the shooting that occurred at 3:35 a.m. has yet to be identified, according to a news release from the police department. Officers at that time responded to Sunset Village, 2611 W. 34th Ave., in reference to a shooting and located the victim, Marcus Jackson. Police say it was initially thought Jackson suffered a gunshot wound to the left jaw, but investigators and medical personnel determined during treatment at a hospital the glass penetrated Jackson’s cheek after a bullet traveled through his vehicle’s windshield.
The vehicle was found in the dead end of Grarich Cove with the driver’s door open and the engine running, according to police. A bullet hole in the driver’s side headlight was reportedly found.
Jackson was treated and released, according to the release. He told police the incident unfolded after he purchased cigars from Spokes and Munchies, 2810 W. 28th Ave., then traveled through several streets to West 36th Avenue, where he reported hearing several gunshots. That’s when he believes bullets struck his vehicle, according to police.
