Pine Bluff police have identified the two people who were shot Wednesday night on the east side of the city.
According to a police report, Keelan Rhodes, 18, and Alexis Stephens, 17, received wounds that were said by police to be “non-life threatening.”
Officer Tamina Smith said in the report that she was in the area of East 12th Avenue and Virginia Street checking the security of Allen Temple Church when she heard gunshots and, in checking the area near East 12th Avenue and Indiana Street, saw two people walking toward her.
The report said Rhodes was covered with blood and “asked me to help him and not let him die.”
“I started to talk to him and told him to calm down and that help was on the way,” Smith said in the report. “I then asked him what his name was and who had shot him but he was unable to talk because he was spitting up blood.”
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
Stephens said she had been shot in the leg and when she was asked who shot them, said “D-Walk” and “Three.” Stephens also said “it was a set-up,” according to the report.
Both Rhodes and Stephens were taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center by ambulance for treatment.
Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Sgt. David De Foor said Thursday that an investigation into the incident is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the detective division at 730-2090. All calls will be kept confidential.
