Police arrest man who allegedly bit and punched his mother

A Pine Bluff man was arrested Friday after he allegedly punched and bit his mother.

Luvell Livingston, 52, was taken into custody after police responded to a reported disturbance at the Lake View Apartments at 110 N. Olive St., at 6:40 p.m.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Keith Banks, Livingston’s mother, 69, said her son had bitten her on the forehead and punched her in the chest after allegedly telling her to “get the h… out.”

Banks reported that Livingston had left the apartment when police arrived and he was found a short distance away, where he initially gave officers a false name and was identified by a relative. He also appeared to be intoxicated.

When Livingston was interviewed, he allegedly said his mother had tried to call police ,and when he took her cell phone, he “accidentally bumped his mouth against her forehead.” He also allegedly said he had drank a half-pint of gin and “a couple of beers.”

Records at the prosecutor’s office showed Livingston had an extensive criminal record dating back to 1982.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Livingston Monday after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with second-degree domestic battery. He was ordered to have no contact with his mother until the case is settled.
